Based at our Kilsyth Plant depot (near Glasgow), you will join our busy department, BAM Ritchies, working on a range of construction Plant and Equipment which is used to service our projects throughout UK. As Auto Electrician, you will be working within the Operational Team to continually improve our safety, systems, processes and provide continued training and product knowledge; continue to drive our endeavour for excellence in customer service and support our growing client and site portfolio. This is a challenging role requiring commitment, dedication, and self-motivation. Must be able and competent to maintain and repair a variation of plant and equipment, resolving any electrical issues.

Your mission

As an Auto Electrician, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Carry out workplace risk assessments on own and with team

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and management

  • Resolve electrical and technical problems relating to plant and equipment and share knowledge, use own initiative whilst on-site. 

  • Maintain internal plant to BAM Ritchies standards

  • Provide clear and concise data, records

  • Lead the familiarisation or provide advice to others [apprentices / operators] in the safe operation and correct maintenance of plant 

  • Advise / seek advice on the modification and development of plant to ensure compliance with Change Control Procedures

  • Identify opportunities to implement new technology 

  • Carry out daily/weekly work programmes set by manager

  • Carry out workload in collaboration with operational teams

  • Train, mentor and develop others

  • Maintain personal diary/CPD record/ to demonstrate career development CV

  • Record all work carried out within company electronic system

  • Maintain work area in a safe and tidy condition

  • Ensure compliance with company and legislative safety and environment requirements

  • Assist with implementation of Your Safety is My Safety

  • Manage working hours whilst on-site according to company procedures

  • Maintain company vehicle and contents to ensure compliance 

  • Respond to unforeseen electrical issues on-site at short notice outside normal working hours

  • Maintain sufficient stocks of spare parts in company vehicle replenishing as required.

  • Various other tasks consummate with your role or development

  • Willing to travel across the UK (on rare occasions)

  • Willing to stay away for home (on rare occasions)

Who are we looking for?
  • Minimum [or equivalent] NVQ level 

  • Level 2 Diploma in Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Competence
