Job summary

16 hours per week

We currently have a receptionist vacancy;this is a busy and varied role, dealing with patients both face to face and onthe telephone. Duties will also includegeneral practice administration. Youwill need to ensure that you are organised and be patient focused. Ideally, you will have previously gainedexperience in Care Navigation within a General Practice environment.

Previous experience in General Practice isdesirable although training will be provided. You must have excellent communication skills; theability to cope with change, be adaptable, accurate and ability to work aloneor as part of a team are essential. You must also be IT literate and experienceof EMIS web is also desirable. This post is subject to a Disclosure BarringService check.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be required to provide excellent customer service skills and provide administration support to the must be flexible and able to work additional hours as and when required to cover annual leave and other periods of absence to ensure the efficient and smooth running of the Practice.

Job responsibilities

Receive, assist and direct patients inaccessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous,efficient and effective way. CareNavigate patients to the most appropriate clinician/resource.

Provide general assistance to the Practiceteam and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors,either in person or via the telephone.

Undertake a variety of administrative dutiesto assist in the smooth running of the Practice including the provision of clericalsupport to clinical staff and other members of the Practice team.

Facilitate effective communication between patients,members the primary health care team, secondary care and other associatedhealthcare agencies.

To be flexible and adaptable to a changing and busy working environment. Be able to care navigate patients to other services if required. Ensure all information is recorded and filed accurately on clinical system. Ability to work in a changing environment. Ability to prioritise workload to meet demands of the service

Experience

Essential

Previous experience of working in a General Practice or similar environment and experience of Care Navigation. Ability to work within a team environment and to assist with project work as and when required Ability to work as and when required in accordance with reception rota including Saturday and if applicable Bank Holidays

Desirable

Demonstrable experience of working in a Busy front facing General Practice Receptionist environment and Care Navigate effectively

Qualifications

Essential

GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths or equivalent.

Desirable

NVQ 1 to 2 in Customer Care. NVQ 1 to 2 in Administration.

Communication

Essential

Excellent telephony and front face and communication skills Good written and verbal skills. Active listening skills

Desirable

Ability to speak /interpret in different languages to assist patients
