Job summary

- The post holder will be working in a busy and fast-paced environment, assisting in the training of Trainee/Apprentice Coders from their first steps in coding to becoming fully trained independent coders ready to work towards achieving their NCCQ will drive the service through an exciting period of change, as the Trust procures a new EPR and we move towards increased digital and agile ways of working.

This is a full-time position ( hours) based at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with opportunity for hybrid working and flexibility with working times to support our employees with a healthy work-life balance. Such arrangements will be discussed at interview.

The Clinical Coding Trainee Trainer, will be responsible for ensuring that accurate, timely, complete, and consistent clinical coding is carried out within strict timescales. Using ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications, and adhering to the national coding standards and local clinical coding policies of the Trust.

The Trainee Trainer will work closely with the Training manger and Head of Clinical Coding to ensure the success of the in-house training and mentoring programme.

Job responsibilities

You will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:

- Ensuring accurate, timely, complete, and consistent clinical coding is carried out within strict timescales, using ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications, and adhering to the national coding standards and local clinical coding policies of the Trust

- Collect, collate, and code clinical information, highly complex in nature, covering a wide range of specialities. This may involve coding highly sensitive and emotionally distressing patient medical records

- Maintaining own productivity by ensuring high quality work is done by required timescales

- Assisting the Clinical Coding Training manger in the implementation of training programme for department.

- Regularly liaise with and update the managers and senior colleagues regarding deficiencies and ambiguity in clinical documentation to facilitate discussions with the clinical teams and other departments to improve the clinical documentation provided for coding purposes

- Raise data quality issues (, inaccurate admission and discharge dates) to the Coding Mangers

- Attend and participate in team meetings to ensure knowledge and learning points are received and communicate
