ASC Support Assistant – Year 5

Competitive rate of pay: £12.90 - £13.50 per hour.

Expected working hours: 08.45am – 15.15pm, Mon – Fri

As a one-form entry primary school, and a partner of Teaching Personnel, said school are currently working with the agency in order to recruit a specialist support assistant to work from ASAP. The role will be to continue for the foreseeable future and has the potential to move on to a permanent contract (depending on the allocated funding through the Local Authority). The child requiring support is high on the Autism Spectrum and has been diagnosed and given additional support through a tailored EHCP. The school has worked over the last year to ensure the child’s needs have been accommodated for, and the Curriculum has been differentiated to meet individual needs. As part of this role you will be expected to manage routine and behaviour so it is important that you have experience of working in UKS2 and alongside children with ASC. Additional training is preferred but experience is vital in the shortlisting for the school. You MUST have previously worked alongside primary or secondary aged children, and you MUST have prior experience working 1:1 alongside children with ASC.

This is a specialist role and not a general TA. We are not looking to recruit just anybody We need the right person, with the right attitude and the right experience. If you feel this may be you, then please contact me for further information. The school are keen to shortlist this week, interview next week with the view to appointing ready for the successful applicant to take up the role after summer holidays.

The school is a GOOD school by Ofsted, with an inspirational Head teacher who has worked hard to improve standards and behaviour. The school is now a beacon for teaching and learning in the local area and the school is over subscribed with the majority of the local community choosing this school ahead of others.

On the whole, there is a higher number of children in school with special educational needs and so the school is well equipped. The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCO in school to provide a high quality tailored curriculum which allows the said child to make rapid progress through the academic year.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
