ThePractice Nurse will be able to prioritise their work and meet deadlines. Theywill work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients,supporting the delivery of policies and procedures. ThePractice Nurse will have the opportunity to develop their chronic disease knowledge andskills as part of a wider nursing team, to deliver care to patients in GeneralPractice providing support for both patients andcolleagues.

Main duties of the job

The following are the core responsibilities of a Practice Nurse:

Venepuncture AnticoagulationMonitoring ECG& 24hr Blood Pressures Immunisationand vaccination of children and adults TravelImmunisations Earexamination and syringing Woundcare and dressings Firstaid and management of emergencies Assistingin minor operation/womens health clinic sessions HealthPromotion and Education ChronicDisease Management Cervicalsmear screening Careand maintenance of equipment and treatment rooms Provide contemporaneous, accurate documentation of all care given to patients Providing clinical advice and support to other professionals within the practice Theuse of the EMIS clinical system for recording consultations, data capture andto produce reports/statistics Attendanceand input to the regular practice meetings, as deemed appropriate. Attendanceat regular training/updates identified in your Personal Development Plan Tomaintain skills and develop competence in new areas depending on service needs. Ensure professional knowledge is keptup-to-date Clinicalsupervision in line with professional and CQC requirements Participationin research within the Practice as required To provide holistic, high quality, clinical care working always in accordance with NMC professional guidelines and scope of competence
