We are currently seeking a highly experienced and skilled Principal Technical Animator to join our team at Lighthouse Games. As a Principal Technical Animator, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the animation pipeline and driving excellence in animation quality across our games. You will lead a team of talented Technical Animators, collaborating closely with artists, designers, and programmers to develop advanced animation systems and push the boundaries of character animation in our games.

Key Duties Include

  • Lead and mentor a team of Technical Animators, providing guidance, feedback, and support
  • Establish and enforce animation standards and best practices
  • Collaborate with artists, designers, and programmers to develop advanced animation systems and tools
  • Create and maintain efficient animation pipelines, ensuring smooth workflow and optimized performance
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in animation technology
  • Drive innovation and improvement in animation processes and techniques
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure animations meet gameplay and technical requirements

Requirements

  • Significant experience as a Technical Animator in the games industry
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Animation, or a related field
  • Expert knowledge of animation software such as Maya, MotionBuilder, and/or 3DS Max
  • Strong understanding of game engines, including Unity and Unreal Engine
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or C#
  • Extensive experience with rigging and skinning complex characters
  • Deep understanding of animation principles and techniques
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
