A vacancy has arisen for a Graduate or Trainee Estimator to join our Bid Team based at our Barnsley office, with some travel as and when required.

 

The role will be to work closely with the wider bid team, technical, operational, engineering departments and ultimately report to the Proposals Director; supporting the delivery of costed tender proposals.

 

The role briefly encompasses the following duties: -

        Review cost estimates for bids and create budgets for existing contracts.

        Identify the costs that will be associated with a project/service (including labour, materials, equipment, etc.

        Researching the cost of items such as materials, transport, labour and equipment.

        Establishing and maintaining relationships with contractors and vendors.

        Gather quotes from suppliers and contractors within a specified time frame.

        Assessing the risk levels associated with a project.

        Preparing and submitting quotations and details of costs for work to be done.

        Assisting with bids for new contracts.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience/attributes:-

        Degree level qualification and/or ability to demonstrate an appropriate level of experience in a similar role.

        Specific information appertaining to the nature of our business will be learnt through a comprehensive one-to-one training plan.

        Knowledge of the bidding process and cost estimating aspect is preferred but not essential.

        The successful candidate will have very strong knowledge and skill in Microsoft Excel and a general competency and interest in business led software packages.

        Thrive in a busy environment.

        Ability to multitask and prioritise workload.

        Deadline driven with effective time management skills.

        Attention to detail.
