Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to be the project lead of an innovative project aimed at providing universal services in deprived areas of Enfield. This is an integrated therapies project across Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech & Language Therapy. The project will focus on improving functional, motor and speech, language and communication outcomes for 0-5 year olds.

 The postholder will work within a multi-agency team with a range of health, early years, social care and voluntary sector professionals to set up the project and take it forwards

The post holder will be leading across a multi professional Allied Health Professions staff group and will work collaboratively in order to deliver high quality outcomes and meet key performance indicators.

Responsibility for regular monitoring of performance activity and implementation of service improvement plans in the context of meeting quality standards and using enablement and co-production principles.

To work in partnership with the care group managers CYP, health visiting teams, early years education establishments and parent /carer forums to implement a Quality Improvement approach and a sustainable culture of continuous quality review whilst providing value for money, with partners across the directorate, in the Local Authority, Voluntary sector.

Main duties of the job

·Leading a partnership steering group to oversee the planning, development and mobilisation of the CSR universal project.

·Developing a service-specific strategy for maximising early referral and close partnership with multidisciplinary working between services.

·Evolving the current strategy for early identification and engagement of those at risk of developing delayed motor/functional and language skills within local communities.

·Involvement in writing monthly highlight reports on progress and development and presenting to boards as appropriate.

·Overseeing and supporting clinicians working within the project.

North Mid is part of North Central London integrated care system – consisting of the NHS and Local authority organisations in Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide leadership by having a good understanding of national and local policy and initiatives for early years children and ensuring implementation of uptodate evidence based practice and appropriate outcome measures.

To develop and deliver the service in partnership with other health, early years, social care and voluntary sector professionals and parents.

To ensure that services are delivered within a robust clinical governance framework, monitoring and evaluating standards of care routinely in accordance with Trust governance arrangements and reporting mechanisms.

To engage in continuous quality improvement and review of the project ensuring staff deliver efficient, safe and effective child and family centred outcomes. Working together with parents/carers and others to gain feedback on the project .

To be responsible for ensuring robust performance, activity and financial targets are achieved. Ensure data management systems are in place to record and report project performance data within designated Trust and commissioning time frames.

To ensure that services are provided safely and with cultural sensitivity, in privacy and with dignity for individual service users and staff.

To coordinate the collection and provision of data as required.

To provide progress reports and present to Trust boards as required

To develop care protocols/pathways and evidenced based pathways for service in collaboration with the team.

To lead on planning, delivering and evaluating formal training/presentations to parents/carers, other professionals and the early years workforce.

To be accountable for own professional action and recognise own professional boundaries, seeking advice as appropriate.

To use specialist knowledge to inform service/policy developments.

To provide mentoring, advice and support to more junior speech and language therapists as well as supervising the work of assistants and volunteers.

To demonstrate a working knowledge and application of relevant legal frameworks, policy and procedures.

To advise line manager on issues of service delivery including shortfalls and pressures, making recommendations for resolution.

To ensure effective communication systems are established and maintained between the team and colleagues within health, local authority and voluntary sector.

To share information with others, observing confidentiality and data protection guidelines and having due regard for local guidance on sharing information with colleagues in Local Authority, social services and the voluntary sector.

To demonstrate established negotiation skills in the management of conflict across a range of situations with staff, service users and other professionals

To deal with verbal complaints sensitively, avoiding escalation where possible and report to line manager and to assist in the investigation of complaints.

To hold accountability for the clinical delivery, performance and operational management of the project.

Essential criteria

•Recognised Therapies Degree •Highly specialist knowledge acquired through degree or equivalent qualifications, further theoretical training and experience in required speciality •HCPC Licence to Practice •Continued Professional Development evidenced by attendance at short specialist postgraduate courses to maintain and develop own specialist knowledge and expertise.

Experience

Essential criteria

•Experience of developing service initiatives, particularly in universal services. •Experience of working with different professional disciplines and agencies •Experience of clinical supervision / mentoring to a wide range of staff . •Evidence of delivering training to a wide range of audiences. •Experience of analysing and interpreting complex data including using databases and spreadsheets .
