We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our forward thinking and innovative School Nursing team, which is an integral part of the 0-19 Public health services in Merton. We work closely with our Health Visiting teams.

We currently have term-time only position available.Central London Community Healthcare is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and innovative practitioner to join the School Nursing Service in Merton. The practitioner must be a Registered Nurse or about to complete the nursing training.

The School Nursing service comprises of a large skill mix team, which is structured to deliver core and targeted health input through the Healthy Child Programme to all school aged children and their families.

Main duties of the job

The applicant should demonstrate an interest in working in the community as part of a wider team.

In addition, they should have a strong public health focus and be fully committed to improving the health and wellbeing of our diverse school aged population.

Applicants are required to also have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work in partnership with other teams and agencies, excellent communication skills and a passion for working with children and families. Moreover, you will be reliable, manage a caseload and demonstrate willingness to support change in the service delivery. You will have the ability to work both autonomously and as part of an integrated skill mix team. Applicants must show an awareness of the Public Health role of the Community Staff Nurse in School Nursing.

Qualifications

Essential

RGN/RN/RM Current NMC Registration Evidence of continuing professional development.

Desirable

RSCN, Children's Community Nurse with current registration Practice assessor or practice based learning training or working towards

Experience

Essential

Recent nursing experience Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team Experience of evidence-based care Experience of assessing, planning and implementing programmes of care Experience of using electronic patient records system Demonstrate a keen interest in public health and working in the community Experience of working within policies related to Safeguarding Children

Desirable

Ability to design and deliver a health promotion topic Experience of writing care plans Evidence of recent nursing experience in children's nursing Experience of teaching others and mentoring students Experience of working with children and young people

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

Knowledge of NMC Code. Knowledge of clinical governance and risk management Knowledge of clinical supervision Knowledge of managing difficult situations and conflict resolution Knowledge of how equal opportunities can be implemented in practice Able to work effectively in a team Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Able to identify learning and development needs and actively seek ways of meeting those needs Good computer skills Ability to problem solve and demonstrate clinical reasoning and professional curiosity.
