Job Description

Job Title: Life Guard

Department: Leisure Club

Reporting To: Leisure Club Manager

Primary Job Purpose:

Based on Experience

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Life Guard to join our Leisure team.  The successful applicant must have a friendly, outgoing nature and be proactive in achieving the challenges set for them. They must maintain safety, to help prevent drowning and other injuries from occurring in or around the poolside area by keeping a full supervision.

About The Role

Roles and Responsibilities

  • To supervise the pool and poolside area to help ensure the safety of its users, enforcing poolside rules where necessary.

  • To administer first aid to members/guests where necessary

  • To carry out regular health and safety checks such as pool tests and changing room checks

  • To maintain a high level of cleanliness of the poolside area

  • Report any maintenance or member issues to the line manager


This job description is not exhaustive and the job holder may be required to carry out other reasonable tasks as specified by their manager.

Key Skills

  • Must hold an up-to-date National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)

  • Safety conscious

  • Vigilant

  • Ability to deal with pressurised situations in a calm and clear manner

  • Strong swimmer

Desired Criteria

  • Willingness to undertake further training.
  • Knowledge of hotels industry

Required Criteria

  • Maths GCSE grade 4/C or above
  • Must hold an up-to-date National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
  • Current First Aid at Work Qualification Level 3
  • Up to date Health and Safety Training
  • Experience of working in fitness and leisure
  • English GCSE grade 4/C or above
