Do you want to help develop and provide services in a new Community Diagnostic Centre?

We have opportunities to work at a site in York or Selby. The successful candidate will either work half the time in the CDC and half in York Hospital, or they will have a certain commitment to working in secondary care each month. 

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 6 Cardiac Physiologist/Clinical Scientist. The candidate should have either a degree in Cardiac Physiology or equivalent, or are currently studying on the Scientist training Programme - entering their final year of study.

This role would be ideal for a physiologist interested in working in the community and supporting a multitude of staff with ECG analysis and ambulatory monitor fitting. The role will initially be assisting in the development of an ambulatory monitor fitting service at one of the CDC's. There will also be opportunity to train in echocardiography or cardiac rhythm management after establishment of this service. There will be support available from Band 7's in the CDC's and at York Hospital.

Main duties of the job

Ambulatory ECG monitoring analysis  Support of staff fitting monitors and performing ECG's Development of the service  Ensuring the standardization of service delivery in the CDC's Supporting ETT lists and working as a 2nd in stress echocardiography Opportunity to train in a specialist area of cardiac physiology 

The Cardiorespiratory department offers a full range of invasive and non-invasive tests, including ECG, ambulatory monitoring, exercise testing, pacemaker implant and follow up (including brady and complex devices), diagnostic angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention and echocardiography (including stress and transoesophageal echocardiography).

The department is committed to continuing professional development, with many staff undertaking post graduate and professional qualifications.

BTEC HNC/D in MPPM /BSc Hons Clinical Physiology (or equivalent)

Specialist training course

Experience

Appropriate post qualification experience. Practical experience and familiarity with the range basic and advanced cardio-respiratory investigations.

Ability to perform a broad range of cardio-respiratory investigations. Ability to communicate complex and sensitive information to consultant physicians.
