Job Description

Overview:

Our healthcare facility is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Deputy Nurse Manager with strong clinical skills to support the Nurse Manager in supervising and coordinating nursing staff. The Deputy Nurse Manager will play a key role in maintaining high standards of patient care and ensuring efficient day-to-day operations in the nursing department.
  • Strong Clinical Skills

  • Shifts: 2 shifts of 12 hours, 2 shifts of 8 hours supernumerary
  • Alternative weekends
  • Part of on-call rota

  • Willing to consider a Senior Nurse looking to step up
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a care home
  • Preferred: Registered Nurse (RGN), but would consider the right Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)
Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Nurse Manager in overseeing daily nursing activities and ensuring adherence to healthcare policies and procedures
  • Supervise and guide nursing staff, providing support and mentorship to promote a positive work environment
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of nursing care and make recommendations for improvements
  • Participate in staff recruitment, orientation, training, and performance evaluations
  • Handle administrative tasks, such as scheduling, budgeting, and maintaining records
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Deputy Manager in a healthcare setting
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and empower staff
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and best practices
  • Proficient in using electronic health records and other healthcare management systems
Day-to-day:
  • Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to plan and coordinate staffing schedules
  • Lead daily huddles and meetings with nursing staff to address any operational issues and provide updates
  • Provide support and guidance to nursing staff, addressing any concerns or conflicts
  • Review patient care plans and participate in rounds to ensure the delivery of high-quality care
  • Assist in resolving any nursing-related issues or emergencies that may arise
