Job summary

We are looking for a hardworking, enthusiastic and experienced Nursing Associate with a professional approach. The nursing associate will work alongside registered nurses and other members of the healthcare team to provide direct patient care.

Main duties of the job

They will assist with various aspects of patient care, such as monitoring vital signs, administering medications, dressing wounds and various other responsibilities.

About us

Springhead Health is a large GMS GP Practice, serving approximately 22,500 patients.

We adopt a team approach to patient care and endeavour to monitor the service provided to patients, to ensure that it meets current standards of excellence.

We occupy a purpose-built building with excellent road and rail links, and a nearby high-speed train service into St Pancras London.

We are currently using EMIS Web clinical system.

Job description

Job responsibilities

a.Deliveryof high quality, compassionate care whilst undertaking specific clinical andcare tasks under the direction of a registered nurse a focus on promoting goodhealth and independence

b.To providehigh-quality holistic and person-centred care to individuals

c.Toprovide routine care to patients as required in accordance with clinical basedevidence, NICE and the NSF

d.Toprovide wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required

e.Towork as part of the organisations MDT to provide and monitor care, underdirect or indirect supervision

f.Toimprove safety and quality of care at every opportunity

g.Tocontribute to the delivery of integrated care

h.Towork with the organisations MDT to ensure delivery of nursing associate dutiesto complement existing workforce

i.Towork with a supervisor to take responsibility for developing own clinical competence,leadership and reflective practice skills within the workplace

j.Toprovide support and supervision to training nursing associates, healthcareassistants, apprentices and those on learning assignments/placements asrequired

k.Tosupport registered nurses to enable them to be able to focus on the morecomplex clinical care.

l.Todevelop relationships across the MDT to support integration of the role acrosshealth and social care including primary care, secondary care and mental health

m.Toperform and record clinical observations such as blood pressure, temperature,respirations and pulse

n.Afterundertaking additional training, to provide flu vaccinations, ECGs andvenepuncture and other relevant clinical tasks as required by the organisationin line with the competencies of the role

o.Topromote health and wellbeing to all patients, for example undertaking the NHShealth check

p.Tocare for individuals with dementia, mental health conditions and learningdisabilities

q.Toprovide wound care (ulcer/Doppler etc.) to patients

r.Toprovide support during minor operations as required

s.Toadvise patients on general healthcare and promote self-management whereappropriate, including signposting patients to personalised care colleagues andlocal community and voluntary sector services

t.Tocommunicate proactively and effectively with all MDT colleagues attending andcontributing to meetings as required

u.Tomaintain accurate and contemporaneous patient health records ensuring thatclinical data is appropriately recorded with SNOMED codes

v.Toprocess pathology results as required

w.Toenhance own performance through continuous professional development, impartingown knowledge and behaviours to meet the needs of the service

x.Towork with your line manager to access regular clinical supervision to enableyou to deal effectively with the difficult issues that people present

y.Tocontribute to and embrace the spectrum of clinical governance

z.Toattend a formal appraisal with your manager at least every 12 months. Once aperformance/training objective has been set, progress will be reviewed on aregular basis so that new objectives can be agreed

aa. To contribute to public health campaigns(, COVID-19 or flu clinics) through advice or direct care

bb. To support and deliver health promotionand wellbeing programmes including any opportunistic delivery
