Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom Newcastle University Full time

The Role

This role is central in the formation of a new collaboration funded by Newcastle University BRC that brings together Neuroscience, Haematology and Immunology groups. Specifically, you will be central in the development and conduction of iPSC-microglial cell cultures that will allow us to understand how immune cells modify the process of neurodegeneration. Secondly, you will also play a critical role in the processing of surgical and post-mortem human tissue samples together with subsequent down-stream analysis techniques such as RNA and DNA sequencing.

Reporting to Dr Michael Keogh and the Institute Technical manager, the candidate will be based between haematology and neuroscience groups primarily at Newcastle University Medical School, with occasional work at the Health Innovation Neighbourhood (HIN) Occasionally sample processing may be at short notice and require some flexible working.

All relevant training and support will be provided by the relevant groups that are highly collaborative, but experience with iPSC-cell culture or other forms of cell culture, together with human tissue work or cell isolation techniques would be welcome.

We would encourage applications that are for either a full-time or a less than full-time post with flexible hours.

This is a fixed term post for 12 months.
