The Role
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Science Teacher to deliver engaging and rigorous lessons across Key Stage 3 and 4. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the national curriculum, be enthusiastic about their subject, and be able to inspire students to develop a deep curiosity and understanding of science. You will be part of a supportive, forward-thinking department that places a strong emphasis on creativity, teamwork, and academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Science across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring the curriculum is engaging, challenging, and differentiated to meet the needs of all students.
  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons that inspire a passion for science and develop students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Use a range of teaching strategies to meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback to help them achieve their best.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development and improvement of the Science curriculum.
  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to take risks, ask questions, and embrace scientific inquiry.
  • Engage with the wider school community by participating in extracurricular activities and events.
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents to support the academic and personal growth of all students.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including pastoral activities and school events.

Essential Criteria:

  • A degree in a relevant science subject (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of the Science curriculum at KS3 and KS4.
  • Passionate about teaching science and inspiring students to explore and appreciate the subject.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues.
  • Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to creating a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Ability to track and assess student progress and provide tailored feedback.
  • A commitment to professional development and staying up-to-date with best practices in teaching.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience teaching Science at KS3 and KS4 level.
  • Experience with GCSE Science specifications (e.g., AQA, Edexcel).
  • Interest in developing and delivering extracurricular science activities or STEM-related events.
  • Familiarity with using educational technology to enhance learning.
