Role Summary

Are you a new or recently qualified Pharmacist, striving to improve patient care and experience, whilst looking to expand and improve your knowledge within Hospital Pharmacy? We have an exciting opportunity to join our small and friendly established team of Pharmacists in a post that offers structured progression from a Band 6 to Band 7 position within an - month period.

This post will attract a Recruitment and Retention Premium totalling £2, (pro-rata for part time employees) plus an on-call premium of approximately £2, (both subject to eligibility), these will be paid in instalments over a month period.

We understand that relocating for a new role can be a significant step, both personally and financially. That’s why we offer a generous package of support, including financial assistance, to help ease the transition for those considering relocation. If you are relocating to North Devon for this role, we can offer either an annual accommodation allowance or a relocation allowance (the former for those renting a property and the latter for those buying a property). As a key member of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, you will be joining an exceptional Pharmacy team working together to help our patients to stay healthy, when they need it most.

As part of your role, you will participate in a range of rotations:

Acute medicine Gastroenterology / respiratory Cardiology / care of the elderly Stroke Surgery and orthopaedics

You will get to work with a wider multidisciplinary team, including:

Medical and surgical teams Specialist nurses Allied health professionals Nutrition team Pain team Hospice

Your day-to-day duties will include:

Clinical review of inpatients Providing clinical advice to other professionals Discharge facilitation Supporting the dispensary (a small portion of your day)

As a Pharmacist at North Devon District Hospital, you will be playing a crucial role in delivering a high-quality Clinical Pharmacy service across a diverse range of wards. The role offers exposure to various specialties, enabling you to develop your core knowledge and skills, as well as the opportunity to be supported in your professional development, whether that’s your clinical diploma, or independent prescribing course. We have clearly mapped pathways to broaden your experience and help you progress.

Newly Qualified Pharmacists will begin at a Band 6 level which will provide you with a solid foundation in all the essential areas of Hospital Pharmacy. We will support you to gain funding for a clinical diploma and on completion of well-defined developmental gateways, you will progress to a Band 7 pharmacist.

Training and development opportunities are in good supply here. Whether you’re interested in clinical or leadership development courses, we'll support you in finding the best way to grow. We’ll facilitate access to the fully-funded clinical diploma and prescribing courses at a university of your choice.
