Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced Phlebotomist to work at Cestria Health Centre.

The successful candidates will have experience of taking blood within a Primary Care setting. It is important that the post holder is able to remain calm under pressure, is efficient and organised.

The post holder will have SystmOne clinical system experience and knowledge of recording information in the Clinical system.

Main duties of the job

To undertake the delivery of Phlebotomy service in General Practice, working with the doctors and nursing team to bring medical services to the patients.

To ensure correct equipment is used and kept clean to prescribed guidelines for infection control protection.

Collection of blood samples in accordance with training and procedures

Record patient data in the clinical system

Ensure samples are labelled correctly and entered on ICE.

Maintain patient confidentiality and check patient demographics

Ensure enough consumables are available ahead of a clinic

Effectively manage their own time and workload

Liaise with clinicians over any concerns

We have a sister practice in Coxhoe with 6,900 patients. Cross-site working is possible. We have our own car park and staff kitchen and common room. There are 8 GP partners and several salaried doctors and Nurse Practitioners. Our organisation employs around 50 people and our Partner-Practice Manager is Denise Minnis. HCA's also welcome to apply. please see job description for HCA below Undertakenew patient health checks b.Supportthe practice nurse with health promotion programmes c.Carryout baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature,pulse rate, recording findings accurately d.Facilitateroutine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly e.Undertakewound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required f.Supportthe practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics g.Carryout BMI checks as directed h.Actas a chaperone as required i.Undertakevenepuncture j.Whentrained, administer flu vaccinations k.Whentrained, administer B12 injections l.Whentrained, carry out ear irrigation under the supervison of the practice nurse m.Carryout ECGs as requested n.Ensurespecimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation o.Providesupport during minor operations as required p.Ensureall clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session q.Ensurefridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance r.Ensurefridge temperatures are recorded on GP Teamnet s.Ensureclinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced inaccordance with the practice IPC policy t. Essential
