An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated senior operational manager to join our leadership team in the role of Divisional Manager for Women's Health services at UCLH. The division houses a full range of women's health services encompassing Gynaecology, Breast, Maternity Services, Neonatal Services and Reproductive Medicine Unit (RMU) with a vision to enable "Better lives for women and babies across the world. The division has services located in Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Wing (EGA), UCLH Tower, and MacMillan Cancer Centre and works closely with the world-renowned Institute for Women's Health at UCL, bringing together clinical strength of UCLH with research expertise of UCL.

The Divisional Manager, reporting to the Medical Director, is a key senior leader within Specialist Hospitals Board, with accountability for delivery of services and providing strategic and operational leadership to over 900 staff with a budget of c£100million.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting time for Women's Health services with opportunities to further develop several of our services including driving forwards our performance against access targets, delivering enhancements to our tertiary specialist services, including maternity and neonates, to provide enhanced patient care and harnessing opportunities to deliver commercial benefits for the organisation. The postholder will also have opportunities to work collaboratively across trusts as part of North Central London ICS and Community providers in order to deliver and embed sustainable changes which benefit patients and staff.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential

Educated to degree level Higher professional or management degree (masters level) or equivalent knowledge acquired by experience. Post Graduate Management Qualification or equivalent knowledge acquired by experience. Evidence of continuing professional development including regular attendance on internal and external study programmes. Knowledge and understanding of a range of issues across the NHS and NHS patient agenda.

Experience

Essential

Proven track record and experience working on both strategic and operational matters at a senior management level, in a large complex organisation preferably within the NHS. Experience of working at a senior operational manager level NHS/public sector experience and knowledge. Demonstrable experience of effective budgetary management and control, including achieving annual targets on a regular basis. Experience of effective contract management with proven outcomes. Proven success in business planning and in the development and effective implementation of complex strategic plans. Experience of leadership of complex operational change management while also developing and maintaining high standards of quality. Commitment to self-development with ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of current thinking and policy affecting health and public sector. Quality focussed with an innovative approach and the ability to solve complex problems. A strong understanding of multi-disciplinary issues and commitment to multi-disciplinary working.
