Job purpose:

The Senior DevOps Engineer will be responsible for translating technical requirements into an efficient DevOps toolchain, facilitating product delivery, and providing guidance to junior colleagues. They will ensure deployment strategies are repeatable, scalable, and highly available, leveraging deep technical expertise to support delivery teams and resolve complex issues.

Responsibilities:

Developing various infrastructure solutions on AWS as well as datacenter / private cloud to deliver high availability, rapidly developed, fully automated solutions using predominately open source software which deliver value to the customer.

Providing technical leadership, help and guidance to less experienced members of the team through mentoring, coaching, constructive review and active participation in various technical forums.

Advising our customers on the latest technologies and methodologies, designing and implementing innovative approaches to their problems using Automation.

Ensuring software standards are maintained, being able to train and mentor junior staff. Defining processes and procedures to ensure maximum re-use and maintaining standards.

Understanding security policies and implementing solutions that satisfy the security requirements.

Designing and implementing solutions which have high availability and are scalable.

Providing feedback and demonstrating to a wider audience solutions currently being developed and introducing the team to new concepts and products.

Occasionally provide after-hours support for critical incidents or planned upgrades.

Collaboration with various DevOps engineers and stakeholders for project and operation delivery.

Requirements:

Must have at least several years of experience as DevOps or SRE role where Kubernetes (EKS/ECS/ECR) being used extensively.

Excellent experience of working on Unix / Linux/ Ubuntu environments.

Proven practical experience of Java and Python

Proven practical experience in of Authentication and Authorization – Keycloak/Redhat SSO, OAUTH2, SAML and OIDC

Proven practical experience in CI / CD tooling – Jenkins

Proven practical experience in Infrastructure as Code – Terraform

Proven practical experience with configuration management tools – Ansible (preferred)

Proven practical experience and knowledge of various AWS services.

Proven practical experience in container technology & orchestration – Kubernetes – EKS, ECS, and ECR

Experienced in Fortigate, Fortiweb and Prometheus Monitoring.

Working knowledge of digital delivery processes and methodologies

Ability to work with an Agile Team, being able to be self-driven and looking for continuous improvements to both the process and the systems.

Attention to detail with a pragmatic and enthusiastic attitude to work.

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), collaborative and personable – happy to help take a lead on projects and provide mentoring

Certification and Clearance:

Hold at least one certification in AWS at associate level.

Must possess security clearance for employment in the public sector or have UK settlement status (ILR) to be eligible for security clearance.​
