An opportunity has arisen within the Head and Neck Directorate as the Interim Deputy General Manager for a 12month period. This role is to work closely with the Interim General Manager across all sites to support and lead the services that make up the directorate.The post holder will work with the relevant Clinical Directors, Clinical Leads, General Managers, Operational Managers, Heads of Service and Matrons, to ensure the provision of high-quality patient care and the efficient use of resources. Base Location: BournemouthInterview Date: TBC Main duties of the job To be managerially responsible for a defined portfolio of services within the Directorate.To support the daily operational delivery of the Directorates.To deputise for the General Manager. Detailed job description and main responsibilities To be responsible for ensuring that within all specific work areas all local and national performance targets and objectives are met.To provide and receive highly complex and sensitive information, then effectively present the information to large and multiple teams some of which may be resistant to hearing the information or charge.To be responsible for ensuring the operational delivery of services; leading and effectively implementing change management initiatives to improve service provision.To influence the strategic development and service improvement of services within the agreed portfolio, in conjunction with the Clinical Directors, General Manager and Nursing teams.To participate in strategic development and service improvement of other services across the Directorate in conjunction with the General Managers and relevant Clinical Directors, Clinical Leads and Heads of Department, leading and delivering on specific projects as required.The portfolio may change in line with the Deputy General Manager’s personal development programme and the needs of the services across the Directorate. Person specification Experience Essential criteria Acute NHS hospital operational experience.Extensive line management and problem solving experience Qualifications Essential criteria First degree or has appropriate level of senior management experience Desirable criteria Healthcare qualification. Technical Skills Competencies Essential criteria Modernisation skills: Change management, capacity and demand etc. Desirable criteria Waiting list and activity analysis Knowledge Essential criteria Awareness and understanding of the wider NHS AgendaKnowledge in Clinical Governance.
