We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join the Mechanical Design Team at Snap Inc 

What you’ll do:

The Mechanical Engineering team in Abingdon support all aspects of developing this technology, including the Optical Engine used inside Spectacles and the components, fixtures and test stations required to facilitate the delivery of this technology. You will: 

Work in a team designing components, assemblies, assembly fixtures, & test stations to support the development of Snap Spectacles spatial computing platform

Provide opto-mechanical solutions to allow components and sub-assemblies to be aligned, tested and calibrated

Develop and conduct technical experiments to select designs, materials, and technologies

Create parts, assemblies and drawings using SolidWorks & Siemens NX

Manage your own workload & projects as part of a high performance, empowered design team

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Strong engineering fundamentals, including wide knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods.

Able to translate designs into physical solutions and build, modify and commission where required

Familiar with GD&T, DFM, DFMEA etc.

Practical workshop skills

Minimum Qualifications: 

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

5 years in a high technology environment and demonstrable experience of designing precision mechanical solutions either within a product design environment or as part of a test/assembly fixtures program for manufacturing

Experience using a CAD platform ideally SolidWorks & Siemens NX

Experience collaborating with suppliers on part manufacturing, final assembly and onsite factory support

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience of design for high volume manufacturing, ideally in consumer electronics

Design of optical sub-assemblies and opto-mechanical parts, ideally for use in projection technology

Knowledge of multiple manufacturing methods used in consumer products

Use of CAD Simulation tools to validate mechanical designs (thermal, mechanical, drop test etc)
