Job Purpose:


To maintain, inspect, repair and test the Company fleet of vehicles to prescribed standards in accordance with the Department of transport, manufacturer and other legislation.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Diagnosing vehicles faults manually or with aids of software and digital tools
  • Perform minor and major repairs on lorries and trailers
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance on service lorries, including inspection, tyres rotation and oil change
  • Ensure all service records are accurate and up to date
  • Install and fix new vehicle accessories
  • Maintain a database for spare parts in the repair garage
  • To attend breakdowns or accident damaged vehicles and assess
  • Prepare cost and time estimates for work done
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including company Health & Safety Policy, Environmental Policy, Housekeeping Policy, and the Equal Opportunities Policy.


Job Requirement:


Essential

  • Qualified mechanic with experience in working with HGV and light commercial maintenance and repair
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Knowledge of safe working practice of workshop health and safety requirement
  • Capable of recording work accurately on service records
  • Positive can-do attitude is essential along with the ability to work to a high standard without supervision.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and have excellent time management skills

Desirable:

  • Driving licence
  • HGV Class 1 licence
