About the role:

At Next we have a great opportunity for a Trainee Store Designer to join our Shopfitting team at our Head Office in Leicestershire. In this role you will be responsible for designing and developing creative, visually impactful and commercially effective store designs. You will ensure that the company’s approved design standards, details and concepts are maintained and implemented correctly across all store formats. You will liaise with stakeholders throughout the business to ensure operational and functional requirements are delivered as well as proposing the design direction of all regional new store space.

You will:

Work with our internal and external teams to ensure all technical and architectural details are correct and to the necessary standard. Ensure designs are practical and adhere to current H&S guidelines interfacing with our H&S teams to gain approval on any newly delivered propositions. Includes fixtures, finishes, and bespoke design elements. Create and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.  Create well planned store layouts with commerciality, excellent aesthetics and the customer at heart.  Ensure that design standards, details and brand concepts are maintained and implemented correctly across all store formats. Interface with key stakeholders to ensure design standards, operational requirements and commercial viability is maintained. Assist in coordinating information from across the business, internally and externally to create a commercially balanced store proposition. Work with external brands to create a holistic store environment suitable for all. Assist in creating stunning new store designs and layouts driving the direction of our regional store design proposition. Supported through creative visualisation techniques where required. Prepare store design layouts, including zone plans, sketch plans and design sketches and visuals to demonstrate the best possible design solution for every project.  Assist project managers to ensure new store concepts are cost effective and deliverable. Ensure all shopfitting projects are measured in line with the shopfitting directive to establish gross usable and trading square footage. Update photo archive of retail environments, for either the visual retailing database or for tool development. Create visual presentations which support/ demonstrate new store design propositions from , fixtures to finishes and signage.

About you:

Degree level qualification in Architecture, Interior Design or similar technical training.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills  Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD. Be able to communicate effectively new design propositions through visual aids as well as verbally. An eye for detail and excel in problem solving. The ability to communicate through written and drawn information.  Knowledge of Google platform preferred. Strong organisation qualities. Ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently.  Well motivated and positive, driven team member. Enthusiastic and passionate about store design and retail. Eager to develop yourself and your abilities within the shopfitting environment.
