Thepost holder will be required to train Band 2 / more junior staff, in accordancewith departmental competencies, The Trust and National decontaminationpolicies.

Prepareenvironments for use during endoscopy lists.

Workand assist as a Band 3 in all diagnostic and endoscopic procedures withguidance from a Registered Nurse, working within a competency framework, withsupport from the Directorate Professional Development Team and the County wideDecontamination Lead.

Inconjunction with Unit Manager / Registered Nurses, support, teach and guideother Health Care Assisstants to achieve a suitable competency level.

AssistRegistered Nurse to provide a high standard of care to patients in the clinicalareas. For example, monitoring patients in the recovery area and maintaining apatient's airway during a diagnostic gastroscopy.

Carryout a range of patient care tasks as directed, supported and supervised by aRegistered Nurse.

Towork County wide as and when needed to meet demands of the service.

TheEndoscopy Unit is currently open Monday to Friday 08:00 to 18:00.

Main duties of the job

Demonstratecompetence in handling, cleaning, decontaminating, tracking and maintaining specialistendoscopy equipment min accordance with local, National and Trustdecontamination guidelines and policies.

Demonstrateawareness of COSHH regulations and the importance of wearing personalprotective equipment (PPE) when dealing with contaminated equipment orchemicals.

Guideand support junior members of staff in their development and assist the UnitManager in the training of all staff in the cleaning and reprocessing ofendoscopes.

Ensurethat weekly samples are taken according to agreed protocols including dailymachine tests and escalate any concerns.

Maintainpatient dignity and privacy and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Maintainaccurate and legible records.

NVQ Level 3 in Direct Care or equivalent GCSE pass in English and Maths or equivalent
