HVAC Systems Engineer

The role of HVAC Systems Engineer for Aerius Marine UK sits at the core of our business. From supporting the preparation of tender responses through; development of new HVAC systems, production of design documentation, technical support to commissioning teams and through life design change and upgrades, the role offers a unique opportunity to experience the full product lifecycle.

Primary responsibilities:

Development of the clients’ requirements into viable system designs including the production of: Engineering drawingsSystem GroupingHeat load CalculationsOutput calculationsCooling duty calculations (using psychometric charts)Heating calculationsHumidification calculationsAir filtration (including Chemical Biological Nuclear and Radiological)Protected air citadel calculationsDuct sizing calculationsSystem simulationPressure drop calculationsNoise calculationsCost estimates Developing and managing the control philosophy for HVAC systems Equipment specification and selection Managing the HVAC systems interface with other ship systems, for example: Platform Management SystemLow Voltage Electrical Distribution System Liaising with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, including: Technical support to both internal and external client/ supplier design reviewsIntegration, validation and safety reviewsSupplier and subcontractor design deliverable reviews including factory acceptance trials Maintaining design intent throughout the project lifecycle

Required skills and qualifications:

Essential

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (HNC plus vocational experience will be considered) Chartered Engineer or working towards Proven design experience with Marine HVAC Systems Experience with Defence Standards and Classification Societies rules Proven client interface capability Proven supplier management capability Ability to lead engineering teams

Desirable

Proficient in 2D AutoCAD Familiarity with system shock requirements Proficient with Microsoft office software

The theoretical knowledge to solve technical problems where applicable applying new techniques and technologies. The knowledge to deliver innovative designs and services and take technical responsibility for the engineering systems. Accountability for project, finance and personnel management and managing trade-offs between key project factors. The skill sets and enthusiasm necessary to develop other technical staff. Effective interpersonal skills in communicating technical matters. Full security clearance will be necessary therefore a valid DBS/Disclosure Scotland certificate is mandatory; the charges accrued will be covered by the company.
