We are looking to hire a Senior Sustainability Manager, within the Professional Hygiene Business Unit, which includes operations in North America and Europe, selling primarily under the Tork brand. About the role

As a Senior Sustainability Manager , you will act as the lead facilitator in related key sustainability activities within the product organization and lead a dedicated team of two professionals, guiding them in the execution of sustainability initiatives. You will be responsible for defining and implementing the BU Product sustainability strategy in line with Essity targets and ambitions; creating & executing the roadmaps and 5-year plans with alignment of key stakeholders; proposing, anchoring and executing activities to ensure a sustainable PH assortment. You will also have the responsibility for the execution of the certification strategy and coordination of activities to secure compliance (e.g. eco labelling, FSC certifications, food contact etc.).

You will report to the Product Management Director Assortment & Packaging and be situated within the Product Management team. The role does carry the need for periodic travel (up to 20% per year).

What You Will Do

Define the sustainability strategy for the product organization, in alignment with the product strategy.

Develop the sustainability roadmap and give input for the product categories’ roadmaps.

Formulate sustainability targets (KPI:s) and follow up, in alignment with Essity targets.

Facilitation of key sustainability initiatives linked to product roadmaps and product compliance.

Coordinate and secure fulfillment of sustainability compliance (e.g. eco labelling, FSC certifications, composability, etc.).

Drive the sustainability agenda from a product perspective in Sustainability forums and align with product team.

Build ​competence and guide product management teams regarding sustainability tasks.

Support communication of sustainability projects and activities, including supporting development and maintenance product sustainability claims.

Support customer engagement around product sustainability aspects.

Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and an integrated approach.

Lead or actively participate in sustainability projects.

To be successful in the role you are a good communicator with the capability to convey knowledge and information to your colleagues and drive business results within your area. You are costumer driven and thrive in an international setting with stakeholders at different levels within the organization. We believe you are self-motivated with a strong internal drive, and you are able to challenge yourself and develop within new areas.

Higher education (at least a bachelor’s degree).

+5 years’ experience in sustainability roles. Experience from a product management role is consider a plus.

Couple of years of leadership experience.

Relevant (ideally B2B) business understanding.

Experienced in effectively managing projects, engaging cross functional stakeholders.

Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

Experience in sustainability management, including third party certifications, sustainability communication, product sustainability assessments and corporate reporting, e.g., Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Greenhouse gas protocol, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is consider a plus.

Knowledge of management systems such as ISO 14001 and managing product sustainability certification is consider a plus.
