Description

Main Area of Responsibility

· Drafting, reviewing and negotiating various software and ICT-related commercial contracts and other

agreements

· Supporting sales and procurement activity for an international business with offices in the UK, South

Africa, USA, Australia and New Zealand and sales activity into over 40 separate countries worldwide

· Managing and mitigating legal risks by contributing to and helping enforce company policies and

procedures

· Promoting and maintaining legal compliance and risk management best practice throughout the

company

· Maintenance of records including company books and contract databases

· Assisting the Data Protection Officer in ensuring data protection compliance across the business in

accordance with both the law and company policy

· Assisting the Head of Legal Counsel with group governance and compliance

· Liaising with customer and external auditors from a legal and compliance perspective

Accountability

· Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating customer and supplier contracts and other legal documents

· Providing internal legal advice to management and SSP business units, concerning contracts, data

protection, disputes and potential litigation and general legal advice

· Assisting with managing and ensuring compliance with SSP’s governance and compliance model and

procedures

· Liaison with group companies, external counsel, customers, suppliers, and regulatory authorities

· Assistance with completion of compliance duties

Qualifications & Experience

· UK solicitor qualification; current practising certificate

· 2 – 4 years’ post qualification experience (either as in-house counsel or in private practice) in:

o commercial and technology law, particularly software and SaaS

o intellectual property licensing and protection

o data protection compliance

o financial services experience including general insurance (highly desirable)

o PCI and ISO27001 experience (highly desirable)

o negotiation and structuring of commercial contracts

· Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
