Main duties of the job

The main focus of responsibilities will be to support the planning, implementation and delivery of clinical trials and other high quality research studies predominantly in child health, within the specialities of paediatrics and neonates This role involves liaison with Principal Investigators and other members of the multidisciplinary team to manage trial protocols to ensure a high quality of data collection, ensuring participant safety and welfare. You provide clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff to raise the standard of research within the Trust. You will be expected to participate fully in their personal development and review process, in order to achieve the knowledge and skills identified for this post. As part of the Women and Children's Research team, you will be responsible for managing and monitoring clinical trial activity in accordance with Good Clinical Practice guidelines. Excellent and regular communication is required, with expectations to be motivated to being involved and in attending R&I and other relevant meetings, with adherence to all the Trust values. Staff education and encouragement of research engagement is important within this role. Representing our organisation professionally to external organisations is also a key factor to maintain Trust reputation and attract further high quality studies to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals

Take the lead on delegated studies being responsible for their development, implementation and progress, co-ordinating clinical team responses and ensuring that studies are run in accordance with Good Clinical Practice guidelines and the Research Governance Framework Demonstrates expert communication skills throughout the research process to assess eligibility and provide on-going advice and information to participants with regard to their participation in research in order to facilitate effective informed consent Ensure appropriate and effective communication with all nursing, medical, paramedical and research staff and other external agencies Provide advice and support to other members of the multidisciplinary team with regard to ICH GCP, ethics approval and amendments, study set up, delivery and completion Ensure planning and organisation of complex activities across a range of studies requiring collaboration with other professionals and agencies .
