The role

Orbit is delighted to announce we are recruiting for a Fire, Health & Safety Advisor, with weighted experience in fire safety practice, to join the team in providing vital services to our employees, customers and partners in the South (London/Kent areas).

The role of Health & Safety Assurance Advisor within Orbit is to support the Health & Building Safety Assurance Lead in the implementation and on-going provision of a Group wide Health and Safety Management System, to ensure legal compliance and advance the Group to deliver sector leading service. You will also be a fire safety expert, working directly with fire public services in ensuring fire safety for our southern properties.

The successful candidate will be based in the South/South East, and will generally cover the defined roles and responsibilities in our outer London and Southern counties area.

This role is part of Corporate Services where you'll help us give colleagues the support they need to be brilliant.

What you'll achieve

Attend meetings and audits with Fire Safety Authorities relating to Orbit buildings stock and discuss and where appropriate, challenge their outcomes. Support the group wide assurance on CDM and Building Safety compliance and be responsible for liaising with external agencies as and when required such as HSE, Fire Authorities and Environmental Health. Complete FRA’s, FRA Audits and other necessary audits as and when required. Support in providing advice, guidance and support on all health and safety related issues (fire safety primarily) and support in providing Health and Safety related training to the Groups staff as and when required. To assist, review and report on Health & Safety Compliance across the organisation. Liaising with internal customers and external agencies as and when required and attendance of Health & Safety Committees

What you'll bring

Essential skills

Excellent communication skills Qualified and competent to undertake Fire Risk Assessments and Inspections of occupied buildings and possess sound knowledge of Fire Safety Regulation, best practice and latest industry standards. Must be willing and able to travel. Knowledge and understanding of current health and safety legislation, regulations and codes of practice. Must have experience of effectively delivering and monitoring H&S activity across a multi-site organisation.

Desirable skills

Knowledge of CDM Regulations. Tech IOSH or equivalent.
