Job Title: Maintenance Engineer - Mechanical
Hours: 7.45 am - 4.45 pm Monday to Thursday 7.45 am - 3.45 pm Friday
Lunch: 1pm - 1:30pm pm (daily flexibility will be required dependent upon workload)
Holidays: 33 days per year inclusive of bank holidays periods.
Overtime: Weekday overtime will be paid at hourly rate plus 1/3, Saturday's and Sundays at hourly rate plus 1/2 may be required to ensure responsibilities & objectives are achieved.
Reporting to: Factory Manager & Production Manager


Day to day duties will include:
The position requires hands on approach, working as part of the maintenance team.

  • Plan, supervise and carry out emergency maintenance & preventative maintenance on forge hammers, power presses, upset forger's production machinery & all other plant and equipment when required.
  • Understanding of Hydraulic, Pneumatics and some Electrical systems.
  • Plan and supervise general building and infrastructure maintenance and repairs.
  • Update maintenance records and documentation, plant operating manuals.
  • Plan and supervise the day to day maintenance and repair of plant and equipment to ensure the smooth running of production.
  • Plan, supervise and carry out inspection of plant and equipment as required to meet internal safety, environmental and legislative standards.
  • Identify preventative maintenance requirements and develop and update the maintenance schedule to include improvements & modifications.
  • Adhere to Business Operating System Work Instructions (incl. Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality).
  • Work alongside sub-contractors and supervise where appropriate to ensure compliance with agreed standards and specifications.
  • Additionally liaise with sub-contractors who may work out of normal working hours.
  • Dealing with potentially environmental hazardous spillages. Also managing and maintaining key environmental equipment.
  • Assist with any P C activities as deemed appropriate.
  • Conduct Health & Safety and Environmental inventories as required.
  • Help Maintain stock of spare parts.


Secondary / backup responsibilities

  • overhead crane licences would be an advantage.
  • Assistance with fabrication processes as required (incl. welding) developing guards.

  • Able to use hand and power tools along with flame cutting and welding equipment.
