Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons to students across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, following the national curriculum and exam board specifications.
  • Prepare students for GCSE, A-Level, and other relevant qualifications through dynamic and differentiated teaching approaches.
  • Use a range of assessment techniques to monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and critical thinking.
  • Work closely with other members of the English department to develop schemes of work, resources, and innovative teaching strategies.
  • Provide additional support to students where necessary, ensuring all learners are able to achieve their potential.
  • Participate in whole-school activities, parents’ evenings, and contribute to the wider school community.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in English or a related subject.
  • Proven experience teaching English at KS4, KS5, and ideally KS6, with a strong track record of student achievement.
  • A passion for English literature and language, with the ability to inspire students and cultivate a love for reading and writing.
  • Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both in and out of the classroom.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and a collaborative approach to teaching.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
