The Rheumatology business unit operates across all Trust sites. This includes outpatients in Andover, Alton, Basingstoke and Winchester. This role is to be lead CNS for the cross site Rheumatology service at HHFT covering outpatients, infusion suite and over seeing CNS clinics. 

Main duties of the job

The delivery of an outpatient service by the team or area for which you have responsibility. This includes:

· Being an expert professional adviser.

· Acting as Clinical Lead for the specialist nursing service.

· Delivering education to the multi-disciplinary team.

· Assessment and treatment of own caseload of patients.

· Responsibility for clinical governance within the team.

· Ensuring clinical services are delivered to a high quality of care and that all compliance requirements such as CQC and contractual requirements are achieved.

· Leading on clinical audit.

· Acting as an adviser for the speciality, both internally and externally.

· Leading on the assessment of highly complex patients, where factors may be conflicting, requiring high level analysis and interpretation skills and the comparison of a range of options to achieve effective treatment.

· Developing the above skill set with the staff who report to you or whom you have a responsibility to train.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

•Post registration qualification(s) in rheumatology or equivalent experience

Desirable criteria

•Level 5 Certificate/Diploma in Management and Leadership, or equivalent •Non-medical prescriber qualification •Joint and soft tissue injection training

Knowledge

Essential criteria

•Degree level education or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study, or employment experience

Desirable criteria

•Additional Postgraduate training in rheumatology, including Masters degree or working towards this

Experience

Essential criteria

•Evidence of significant post registration clinical work experience to Masters level •Evidence of implementing significant changes or service developments that promote good practice

Desirable criteria

•Experience of project management for policy development or large-scale projects •Experience of workforce budgets and staff development planning

Skills

Essential criteria

•Highly specialised Clinical Skills appropriate to the relevant speciality of rheumatology. •Understanding of effective clinical governance including implications, quality and audit.
