Job summary

We are recruiting a part-time experienced Dispenser to join our friendly GP dispensing team for 25+ hours per week.

It is important for us to find the right person to fit in with our friendly team who cover dispensary - Monday to Fridays to Flexibility with hours would be beneficial. We offer free parking, paid lunch break and no weekend working.

Pay will be £ per hour.

Main duties of the job

Working closely with the dispensary team you will be involved in allareas of the dispensary including dispensing, record keeping, stock control, adheringto standard operating procedures and dispensing dossett boxes. The idealcandidate will have an NVQ level 2 Pharmacy Assistant or an equivalentdispensing qualification

We are a friendly rural dispensing practice with a main modern purpose-builtsurgery at Milborne Port Surgery and smaller branch surgery at Templecombe.

We dispense from both sites and consider ourselves an innovative GPtraining practice. The dispensary team includes a dispensary lead and 5dispensers. The team benefits from support from an in-house pharmacist andpharmacy technician as well as the local PCN pharmacy team.

Job responsibilities

Job Summary:

To process all relevant prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate in accordance with the principles of good practice.

Job Responsibilities :

To ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor.

Taking repeat prescription requests, checking that they are correct and allowable patient is not overusing, medication review is not overdue, that they are authorised by a GP.

To collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient.

To ensure that all monies received or handled on behalf of the Practice are appropriately stored and for the Practice Manager to maintain a record of all financial transactions.

To promptly forward all invoices/statements and dispensary related correspondence to the Practice Manager according to Practice policy.

To notify the authorising doctor/designated dispenser of any FP10 returns/feedback from the PPA so that any appropriate remedial action may be taken.

To assist in operating efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the Practice with the objective of ensuring continuity of supply for patients and minimising wastage through out of date stock.

When orders arrive from wholesaler checking that they have been correctly despatched as ordered, have arrived undamaged and in the correct quantities.

To ensure that drugs are stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with the accompanying instructions.

To ensure shelves and all work surfaces are regularly cleaned to maintain a high level of hygiene within the dispensary and that all dispensary equipment is kept clean and kept in good working order.

To take prompt action in response to any drug alert bulletins that may be received from time to time.

To ensure that refrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and to maintain a temperature control record/logbook.

To maintain full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions incorporating the use of computer software such as EMIS Web as appropriate.

Monitoring supplies of printed labels, bags and other dispensing consumables and re-ordering as necessary.

Reporting any concerns regarding computer, security, premises, Health and Safety issues and risks, patients to the Practice Manager.

Liaise closely with the relating second site under the Milborne Port Surgery Partnership.

Understanding the need to work and communicate well with follow dispensers as a team.

Maintain an up to date knowledge on Legislative Acts that are in force and associated with dispensing.

To maintain a high standard and efficient dispensing service.

Assist in the compliance with Dispensing Services Quality Scheme

To carry out other duties that may reasonably be required by the doctors or Practice Manager.

To engage in the introduction of new system developments as required.

To attend training courses as appropriate to the dispensing department.

To carry out dispensing duties at the branch site as required possibly on a regular basis.

Attendance at, and input to, partners meetings as appropriate

Liaise with the Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) pharmaceutical advisor

To be instrumental in the organisation, development whilst assisting in the preparation and dispensing of Dossette packs/MDS packs

To be able to work under pressure, in a changing environment, using owing initiative whilst being self-motivated, and have the ability to organise and prioritise own workload.

Flexibility of working hours/ ability to work at desired times.
