Role Summary

Applicants are invited to apply for Trust Doctor ST3 level posts in Stroke Medicine. This is a fixed term posts for months and is a full-time trust grade post aimed at ST3 level to provide junior doctor cover for the inpatient Stroke ward, attend out-patients, undertaking new and follow-up patient reviews, organising investigations and management plans. This post will allow the successful candidate to develop experience in Stroke Medicine.

To ensure patients are seen regularly and expeditiously, carrying out ward rounds. Communicating with patients’ relatives. Supervising more junior medical colleagues. Review all acute strokes admitted to the stroke unit. Then be involved in the acute care and continued management of these patients from acute to rehabilitation and discharge planning To provide daytime cover for Stroke admissions. Review and develop concise rehabilitation plan for all Stroke patients admitted to the Stroke Unit. Keeping comprehensive patient records Producing discharge letters expeditiously, with accurate and comprehensive diagnoses, and supervising their production by more junior colleagues. To attend outpatient clinics, including TIA clinics, for training and experience.  Duties in occasional emergencies and in unforeseen circumstances at the request of an appropriate Consultant. Agree to read and follow medical guidelines and policies. To take part in Clinical Governance activity, including clinical audit & Stroke Medicine governance meetings. To attend and deliver training and education sessions in the department.
