Job Type:

Build a brilliant future with Hiscox

Position: Agile Delivery Manager

Reporting to: Head of Agile Delivery

Location: York or London

Type: Permanent

Introduction

In IT Services, our collective goal is to deliver and maintain best-in-class, innovative infrastructure solutions that are sustainable, resilient and inclusive.

We work within an Agile methodology, because that helps us to deliver the right solutions quickly and accurately. It also means that we have the flexibility to pivot and adapt our work, through iterative testing with our Hiscox colleagues.

The Agile Delivery Manager role

We’re looking for a Agile Delivery Manager (ADM) to join our IT Services team to facilitate delivery and maintain critical infrastructure services for the global Hiscox business.

Our Agile Delivery Managers have end-to-end responsibility for the coordination of the day-to-day activities of the squads that make up our IT Services (ITS) value streams – End User Experience (EUX) and Core Infrastructure Platforms (CIP).

As an experienced Agile Delivery Manager, you will perform a hybrid role where you both deliver and lead the coaching of squad/s to continuously improve their Agile ways of working. You will also have responsibility for facilitating the delivery management of all product development and associated projects within one of the two ITS value streams.

This is a varied, and business critical, senior role including (but not limited to) the following activities:

Delivery ownership and oversight across the cross-disciplined squads (utilising Agile values, principles and practices) within a value stream.

Ensuring the squads meet their commitments, remove impediments and dependencies as much as possible, escalate where appropriate when the squad is off track, and ensure they take appropriate action.

Provide senior stakeholder engagement, communications to ensure expectations are appropriately managed and aligned. Protect the squad/s from external interference.

Facilitate Agile ceremonies at a value stream level. Ensuring continuous improvement is achieved using metrics.

Support the Head of Product, their Product Owners (PO) and Product Managers (PM), ensuring the backlogs are appropriately prioritised and that roadmaps reflect ‘delivery do-ability. Assisting with the management of new requests by balancing business priorities against existing commitments.

Accelerate the timely delivery of requests for support from the squad/s – resolve dependencies between squads through close collaboration with other Agile Delivery Leads across IT Services. Ownership of the timely and accurate completion of squad administration.

Work with the other members of the ITS Ways of Working Chapter to share knowledge, best practices and develop as a team – as an Agile Delivery Manager, you will coach, and mentor Agile Delivery Leads to support their career development.

Actively participate in the wider Agile / Dev Ops community to aid continuous learning, innovation, best practice and alignment with Hiscox engineering teams.

Required skills/experience

Extensive knowledge of, and experience working with, Agile practices (e.g. Kanban / Lean / Scrum).

5+ years’ experience in an Agile Delivery Manager / Senior Agile Delivery Lead / Scrum Master role (or demonstrable evidence of similar skills and experience from other roles).

Development and utilisation of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).

Financial management of delivering change in a commercial environment – able to support effective budget management within the constraints of a value stream or project environment.

Expert user of Agile delivery management and collaboration tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, Miro, Azure DevOps boards).

Beneficial experience

Experience within platform services / platform engineering / cloud / infrastructure teams.

Use of data visualisation tools to drive continuous improvement (e.g. Tableau with JIRA).

Rewards

On top of a competitive salary, we also offer a wide range of benefits.

25 days annual leave plus two Hiscox days

4 week paid sabbatical after every 5 years of service

Company and personal performance related bonus.

Contributory pension.

Other benefits include:

Money towards gym membership.

Christmas gift.

4 x life insurance.
