Experience of working effectively withprofessionals from other services and across organisationalboundaries. Experience of making professional decisions about theappropriate way of responding to children who may need assessmentand help, including in relation to court work. Understanding thelegal and regulatory framework for safeguarding and promoting thewelfare of children. An understanding of the framework forinformation sharing between professionals and agencies in responseto contacts, notifications and requests for children s social careservice. Understand of how to apply best practice in evaluatinglevels of risk and need with incomplete information about a child sneeds and circumstances. An understanding of the application oflegislation and guidance relating to statutory assessment by socialworkers, children in need, privately fostered children, lookedafter children and care leavers. An understanding of early helpassessment and support arrangements. Skills in staff supervisionand development. Able to effectively direct and guide professionalsfrom other agencies working within the team. Able to maintain aneffective management oversight of the response to assessments. Ableto take timely action to avoid drift or delay to ensure thatchildren get the assessment, help and intervention they need toensure that they are protected, and their welfare is promoted. Ableto effectively manage information electronically and to use officemanagement systems. Demonstrably good written and oralcommunication skills and ability to produce and present detailedand complex reports.
