Specific Responsibilities

The Geomatics Advisor position for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Global Geomatic team and based at the company’s Aberdeen, UK office reporting to the Geoscience Lead from an asset perspective. 

This role will be primarily responsible for the following:

•    Fulfil role as Information and Samples Coordinator (ISC) for the company.
•    Act as focal point for NSTA ISC liaison, communicating internally upcoming data requirements / announcements.
•    NSTA Section 34 request co-ordination: administer, prioritise, and track progress to ensure compliance.
•    Responsible for fulfilling NSTA PON/Section 34 requests related to wells, seismic, site survey, geological samples.
•    Co-ordinate Section 34 and WONS requests related to produced fluids, infrastructure & abandonment.
•    National Data Repository (NDR): data submissions / updates, use of inhouse tools to query NDR databases for completeness.
•    Development of Information and Samples Plan (ISPs), required for specific licence events.
•    Managing all types of physical & digital subsurface datasets e.g. core, seismic.
•    Act as a liaison to corporate departments for data gathering and provision as well as leveraging integration technologies.
•    Providing GIS software support, generating maps and visualizing spatial data.
•    Proactively assisting asset teams, geoscience and drilling engineers, with all geoscience data related requests, including for P&A activities.
•    Support the administration & management of Petroleum Licences.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

•    Bachelor’s degree in a Geology, Geophysics, Computer Science or related field.
•    Demonstrable experience within the oil and gas industry.
•    Experience and working knowledge of UK regulatory compliance.
•    Experience in the role of an ISC.
•    Familiarity with geoscience software applications. 
•    Working knowledge for use of NDR, NSTA Open Data and PEARS.
•    Knowledge of data analytics is critical.
•    Experience with the below software applications is preferred: 

o    ArcGIS/ArcPro 
o    Petrel & DUG
o    IP (Integrated Petrophysics) 
o    Analytical tools such as Spotfire or PowerBI
o    Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams
