Job summary
Due to anincrease in patient population and staff progression, a post for a Health Care Assistanthas become available at Milton Abbas Surgery in a beautiful area ofDorset. The role will support ourIntegrated Nurse Team, providing a full range of services to our patients bothwithin the Practice and their own homes. This model of primary care nursing isespecially well suited to a rural setting and is highly regarded by ourpatients and partners in healthcare.
Main duties of the job
Duties and responsibilities:
Newpatient health checks
ECGrecording
Phlebotomy
Basicdressings
BasicInjections B12/flu (in line with practice policies and protocols)
NHS HealthChecks
Chaperoningduties
Processingand management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses.
Clearingand re-stocking consulting rooms
Preparingand maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patientcare interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minoroperations
Assistingin the assessment and surveillance of patients chronic health.
Undertakingspecific clinical activities that have been delegated and taught specificallyin relation to named patient.
Helping toraise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted.
Assistingwith the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being.

Job description
Job responsibilities
Working under the direct supervision of the senior practice nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of patient care. Essential
A demonstrable commitment to professional development. Excellent communication skills. A willingness to develop nursing skills within the scope of the HCA role. An understanding of the scope of the HCA role and the ability to work within associated competencies. An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality. Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and common sense. Ability to work without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities. Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team. Pleasant and articulate. Able to work under pressure. Able to work in a changing environment. Able to use own initiative. Car driver/clean license. Flexibility of working hours/ability to work at the desired times.
Qualifications
Essential
GCSE Grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths. Recognised qualification to NVQ Level or above.
Desirable
Evidence of Care Certificate competence.
Experience
Essential
Experienced Health Care Assistant. Experience of dealing with the public/patients.
Desirable
Experience in community nursing and/or a clinic setting. Experience of SytsmOne Clinical system. Experience of Microsoft Office software.-
