Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Health Care Support Workers to join our compassionate, friendly and forward thinking team. Ward 1 is a 21 bedded acute medical ward which specialises in Respiratory.

Ward 1 demonstrates a supportive and encouraging environment with an opportunity to learn many new skills within an acute setting, whilst working alongside the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and contributing to high quality care and intervention.

The successful candidates will be working as part of a ward based team assisting in the delivery of a high standard of nursing care, acting in a professional manner at all times. The post holders will work as part of a team of ward based nursing staff and will be required to carry out a range of assigned tasks involving direct and non-direct care for the benefit of the patient, and will be in support of and supervised by a Registered Nurse.

Various full and part time hours are available.

Main duties of the job

This post is of an evolving nature and the job description is based upon a flexible core competency framework that will enable the post holder to develop their role. This role is linked clearly to minimum training requirements providing competency to practice.

Following the completion of training and achievement of core competencies they will be expected to deliver a range of basic nursing duties to patients, ensuring that privacy, dignity and respect are maintained at all times.

You will be required to demonstrate competence in assessing, planning and evaluating the care needs of a group of patients with support from your ward manager, colleagues and educator team.
