Childrens' Support Worker
KV Care is a small but beautifully created loving atmosphere that offers a variety of home-care packages and services to both children and adults. We provide crucial support and care to the communitys' most vulnerable individuals, and we pride ourselves on providing a person-centered service that focuses on fostering independence within a person's own home setting.
The specific position includes assisting children at home who may have significant medical needs. This could include assistance with many elements of everyday life, such as social support, moving and handling, and personal care. Higher-level care abilities, such as PEG care, tracheostomy care, and professional movement and handling, would also be necessary (e.g. custom wheelchair). The specific abilities needed would be determined by the service user. Of course, any suitable new starter would be trained in all parts of the care they would be providing regardless.
As a Children's Support Worker, we are searching for someone who is enthusiastic and experienced. Learning Disabilities, Mental Health Conditions, and other issues are common among service users. This is a fantastic opportunity to help youngsters in the Rochdale and Bury districts. You will also have to maintain strong working relationships and lines of communication with colleagues, as well as with children, youth, and families, and if necessary, encourage and promote participation to achieve desirable outcomes.
Requirements
- Thinking on your feet and sourcing activities that are engaging for children and young people
- Have fun, make fun and be creative with your time when providing care
- Social support and signposting to social activities and groups to help with wellbeing and isolation
- Emotional and well-being support and guidance
- Keeping children and teenagers safe from threats to their health and well-being
- The ability to stay calm under pressure and deal with difficult situations
- Supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically
- Dealing with challenging behaviours when needed
- Knowledge of behaviour management and de-escalation strategies (where required).
- Assisting with any medical and health needs
- Peg care
- tracheostomy care
- professional movement and handling
- Personal care
KV Care will undertake an enhanced DBS check for all successful applicants and will provide full training bespoke to KV Care and customer need.
