The Project Development Manager (PDM) is responsible for the conversion of low carbon and renewable energy enquiries into live projects. Whilst reporting into the Head of Projects the PDM works closely with the design team and supports the Head of Consultancy and Head of Business Development to validate opportunities prior to becoming a live project.

1. Key Features

1.1. Reports directly into the Head of Projects – forming part of the project management team the job holder will lead the early-stage technical appraisal and ongoing development of project enquiries

1.2. Oversee the project development phases, (internal & external) including technical appraisal, specification & scoping reviews, proposals etc

1.3. Liaise proactively and effectively with internal departments, external organisations, and stakeholders to ensure projects meet the desired outputs

1.4. Deliver progress reports, proposals, and other required pre-construction documentation to various stakeholders, including consultancy, business development, design, project teams, internal and external sponsors, and stakeholders

1.5. Actively lead/engage during internal/external project development communications, project reviews and development meetings

1.6. Development, issue, update, and maintenance of project development reports that outline scope, deliverables, key milestones, risks, etc (MS project or similar)

1.7. Ensuring the scope, deliverables and targets of all projects are appraised, validated, agreed with clients/stakeholders, and understood by the wider projects team

1.8. Instigate regular project development review meetings to monitor and communicate progress to key stakeholders

1.9. Ensure robust financial, commercial and projects controls are always adopted

1.10. Work alongside all other internal/external stakeholders to meet business and project objectives

1.11. Oversee all project development processes – promoting excellence in all that we do

1.12. Provide technical support to all project stakeholders, communicating effectively, always keeping the end goal in mind, ensuring that problems are addressed in good time

1.13. Evaluating the success of the project development phases and sharing lessons or best practice with internal stakeholders

1.14. Actively support the Head of Projects and the broader management team during the complex enquiry to live projects development processes

1.15. Identifying, engaging, and promoting the adoption of ‘champions’ within the project development team, overseeing their involvement and ensuring that the project champions are equipped to support the broader internal stakeholders

1.16. Assisting in the development and management of the projects policies, procedures, processes, and the supporting implementation processes

1.17. Undertaking, engaging, and promoting training and professional development required to ensure delivery of projects for internal & external stakeholders

1.18. Ensure compliance with all statutory/regulations across the project development phases

1.19. Observing safe working practices in accordance with company policies, procedures, and processes

1.20. Ensure compliance with QHSE requirements throughout the development phases

1.21. Complying fully with the premises owners’ health, safety, environmental and other requirements when working on their sites

2. Qualifications & Requirements:

2.1. Full UK valid driving license

2.2. Engineering degree ( mech or elec)

2.3. 10yrs+ in the low carbon/renewable energy sector

2.4. 10yrs+ project management experience

2.5. Experience in a similar role

2.6. IT literate -Word / Excel / MS Project / Primavera

2.7. Strong customer service skills with effective communication

It would be hugely advantageous to have any of the following;

2.8. Electrical Engineering qualifications 2391/18th Edition

2.9. Experienced in electrical works for fixed electrical installations and panel/control works.

3. General
