Senior Legal Counsel

As Senior Legal Counsel at Primark, you will operate at a strategic level, partnering with key stakeholders to effectively manage legal risks. As part of the Primark Global Legal Team, you will work closely with senior leadership teams and otherwise across all levels of the organisation. You will provide commercially pragmatic advice on a broad spectrum of issues and will seek to influence strategic and operational decision making across the business. In doing so, you will actively contribute to the ongoing success of the business.

What You’ll Do:
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day: 

  • You will work cross-functionally, managing a broad range of legal, ethical and governance risk, while being solution-focused and commercially pragmatic. You will provide rigorous and robust legal advice, guidance, and counsel to the business.  
  • You will build trusted collaborative relationships across the organisation, establishing yourself as a go-to contact in the Legal team. You will collaborate with the business to influence strategic and operational decisions at all levels. 
  • You will work with and develop a high-performing team, displaying functional excellence, support improving the operational effectiveness of the team. 
  • You will lead on the drafting, review, and negotiation of a broad range of commercial agreements.
  • You will manage external legal counsel, ensuring maximum efficiencies of work performed while proactively managing costs. 


What You’ll Bring  
Here at Primark, we want everyone to feel valued – so please bring your authentic self to work, of course with some other key experience and abilities for this role in particular: 

  • You are a qualified Solicitor with 7- years PQE. You will have experience in private practice in Ireland or the UK. 
  • You will be commercial, assertive, and diplomatic, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. 
  • You will bring broad general commercial experience required including experience negotiating complex agreements. You will be able to apply rigorous legal interpretation without compromising the business.
  • You will have a proven track record of identifying a problem or a solution and actively going about making change.
  • You will have a strong work ethic and are very comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
