 Analytics Engineer

We are seeking an Analytics Engineer to work within our Data team to help shape and enhance our data capabilities. The role will involve applying analytical approaches, creating visualisations and automating reports to communicate insights across all areas of the business. The role is business focused and the candidate will need to be able to understand the needs of stakeholders, collaborating with them to determine the optimal solution for delivering their information needs.

Development will focus on Power BI and supporting Tabular models but will also include work to transition our remaining legacy estate to our Azure data platform, which primarily includes SSRS and QlikView. We are looking for candidates who can translate business needs into data-driven insights that can be easily understood and leveraged by a variety of business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Developing data solutions using Tabular Models and Power BI, delivering user-friendly capabilities to meet the requirements of business stakeholders Presenting data insights to stakeholders in formats that they can understand and self-serve Ensuring data used for reporting and analyses is accurate and reliable, producing reconciliation evidence back to approved sources Peer reviewing development work to ensure that it achieves the intended purpose, is free from error and adheres to our development policies and principles Providing support and enhancements to existing reporting solutions and ad-hoc data analyses Working closely with the team to transition our remaining legacy reporting solutions onto our strategic cloud platform Development of good internal client relationships Management of own task list and ensuring that plans and priorities are agreed Keeping abreast of developments and trends in data and reporting technology

Skills and Experience

Significant development experience using Power BI, Tabular Models and DAX Strong T-SQL skills with experience in querying, analysing and manipulating data Insurance or other financial service experience is beneficial as the role involves working closely with business users across the organisation Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail Good communication and presentation skills; able to convey ideas, information and concepts effectively with business stakeholders and team members Strong stakeholder management skills, listening to their information needs and enhancing their understanding of our data capabilities to provide the insights they require Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as in team environments Experience of working within an agile squad and knowledge of Azure DevOps is preferable Experience of developing solutions in SSRS or QlikView a bonus, but not essential
