To meet the requirements of this post you will support effective Clinical care by providing an effective and efficient Medical Secretarial service to clinical staff and other health care professional teams. This post provides a crucial focal point for all communication to and from the Clinicians and other team members and also involves interaction with patients, relatives and carers, GPs, and other allied health care professionals. 

The post also provides an efficient medical records/clerical service to ensure patient appointments for consultant, GP and other health care professional clinics are administered and processed accurately. Secretarial support to visiting clinicians within the hospital. Extract clinical information via patient records and clinical systems to facilitate high quality clinical coding. You will ideally have experience of NHS organisational processes and structures, however, the ability to cope with the pace of a demanding role is essential. You should demonstrate a professional manner. 

You must have excellent communication and IT skills and although the post is supervised you should demonstrate that you have the ability to prioritise your own workload. 

You will also be required to work as part of a team, therefore, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary, although there may be occasions when you will be required to work alone and as such you will require the ability to work well under pressure and have a flexible approach to the needs of the department are essential. 

Knowledge, training and experience requires to do the job are:
• Computer literacy with excellent keyboard skills.
• Knowledge of a range of secretarial procedures
• Medical Secretarial Certificate/Diploma or Knowledge of Medical Terminology or be prepared to work towards it.
• Two years secretarial experience including word processing in any office environment is essential but previous NHS experience desirable.

Induction, training, support and supervision will be provided but this post.

Hours of work will be from Monday to Friday
