Job responsibilities

On Call duties

The Paediatric medical staffing model is 1 in 8 on call rota. Over 8 weeks, each Senior House officer covers 7 on call long day shifts (2 of which being at a weekend) and 7 night on call shifts (2 of which are at a weekend).

Clinical Duties

Assessment and treatment of acutely unwell children in CAU Assist in the resuscitation and stabilisation of critically children Diagnosis, treatment and continuing care of newborn infants in the SCBU and Drayton Postnatal Ward. Undertake treatments and procedures in infants or children attending Treatment Room. Perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate Consultant, in consultation where practical, with his colleagues both senior and junior.

Core responsibilities

Communicate and work collaboratively with all members of the Paediatric team. Communicate effectively and sensitively with parents and children about all aspects of their clinical care. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Maintain legible and accurate documentation in the clinical records. Person Specification

Experience and Knowlege

Essential

Broad clinical experience within General/ Acute Medicine Knowledge of medical audit, medical education, current clinical and medical best practice Undertaken complete audit cycle and participate in completed clinical research projects

Qualifications and Professional

Essential

MRCP or MRCS for ST3 ALS Certification Full GMC Registration with license to practice

Skills and Abilities

Essential

Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of a specialist service Ability to organise and participate in and evidence of teaching and training undergraduate and postgraduate students Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical practice
