Wellingborough, United Kingdom The Clancy Group Full time
Lead Health & Safety Advisor Wellingborough

We care… That's why we need people like you, who care about their colleagues and customers, our business, the environment and the community. We'll have a lot in common if you are concerned about what’s happening around you

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Lead Health & Safety Advisor to join our Anglian Water contract team. You will be working as part of the alliance to lead Health, Safety & Welfare strategy and ensure delivery is monitored, managed and assured.

The Role

We need your help to inspire and help our busy operational teams execute their work consistently, using “best in class” health and safety practices. We’ll leave you to decide how best to do this, although we know that you won’t be standing on the side-lines holding a clipboard and grimacing.

We’ll support and encourage your naturally inquisitive nature as you seek to understand the operational challenges your colleagues face on site. We’ll be looking for practical H&S solutions and helpful advice delivered in a style that motivates your audience. We’ll encourage you to create communications strategies which resonate and inspire.

If you enjoy operating in a fast-paced and sometimes transient working environment, which is not restricted to a single or enclosed site, then here are just some of the activities you’ll be getting involved with:

  • Managing and executing site inspections
  • Advising on and setting Operational team safety objectives
  • Supporting and undertaking investigations into accidents and incidents
  • Assessing external environments for safe working
  • Identifying any gaps in the H&S management system; recommending improvements
  • Developing and implementing new initiatives or sharing best practice with colleagues
  • Advising on and communicating new working practices in line with any new legislative requirements or best practice
  • Carrying out ABC tours (Attitude, Behaviours and Culture)
  • Actively encouraging Safety Observations and Hazard Reporting

We’d love to hear from you if you can demonstrate …

Exceptional communications skills and originality as well as H&S expertise are all essential for success in this role. We’ll be looking for you to demonstrate an innovative approach to H&S problem solving, along with significant experience in a H&S advisory role, underpinned by a thorough understanding of current HSE legislation.

A NEBOSH Construction Certification or equivalent i.e., HNC in Construction as a minimum and a Chartered IOSH Membership or actively working towards.
Relevant industry experience would be highly advantageous.

A full UK Driving licence is also required.

Our Company

Every day we work smarter, greener and use our imaginations.

Our purpose at Clancy is simple - we make life better for everyone’s growing families. We play a vital role in providing fresh drinking water and power to millions of homes and businesses and so much more.

We are one of the biggest family owned construction businesses in the UK and we care about our people, our clients and the environment.

What Next

You apply, and we respond within two weeks (we know how annoying it is not to hear anything back) If you don’t receive feedback within that timescale, please don’t be afraid to chase us - one of our values is to do what we say we will do

Benefits

In addition to helping you reach your career goals, a competitive salary, pension, healthcare and holiday allowance starting at 24-26 days per annum, we also offer perks including Clancy Xtras, our employee benefits programme with discounts for numerous well-known retailers such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Currys PC World and Vue Cinemas, cycle to work scheme as well as an Employee Assistance Programme.

Clancy is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all our employees. If you require any reasonable adjustments to be made for you to attend an interview, please do let us know and we will be happy to accommodate.
