We have a distinct role toplay in helping those sentenced by the courts to turn their livesaround but we cannot tackle all the causes of reoffending alone. Weneed strong partnerships with other public and third sectororganisations to secure access to the services that will help thosewe supervise to be productive members ofsociety.
KeyDuties/Accountabilities:
Andyoung persons detained or questioned by policeofficers;
The provision ofassistance to persons determining whether youth cautions should begiven;
The assessment of childrenand young persons and the provision for them of rehabilitationprogrammes;
Essential ExperienceRequired:
Where the localauthority is in England a person with experience of social work inrelation to children nominated by the director of children sservices appointed by the local authority under section 18 of theChildren Act 2004;
Where thelocal authority is in England a person with experience in educationnominated by the director of children s services appointed by thelocal authority under section 18 of the Children Act2004;
Essential QualificationsRequired:
Must be a qualifiedprobation officer
Ideallycandidate has some experience of working withadolescents
Candidates who havebeen involved in managing transitions from youth justice toprobation would bedesirable
