The Opportunity 

We have a senior engineer position in the HV Power Systems team in providing specialist power systems advice and services to internal and external clients. The team is involved in a wide range of power system projects in the energy, rail, nuclear, building and utilities sectors.

Working across the Transmission and Distribution sectors, our projects span across HVAC and HVDC feasibility and FEED, HVAC and HVDC Design, project management, techno-economic assessments, and Regulatory and Advisory services supporting our clients in areas such as offshore wind and interconnectors, utilities, nuclear, data centres and industrial facilities.

This position will be based in the Glasgow office and integrated within the wider HV Power Systems team with members based in Birmingham and Manchester.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for candidates holding MSc, MEng or BEng degree in Electrical Engineering /Electrical Power Systems or similar. Ideally you will be a Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership with the IET. Your role will involve supporting bids and business development initiatives within a team but also working individually on various projects.

We're looking for the following qualifications, attributes, and skills: 

Background in the design and delivery of EHV and HV (400kV-11kV ) electrical systems along with skills in Modelling/ Analysis of these networksDesign / Studies background of Offshore and/or On Shore Wind Farms is desirableFamiliar with the UK distribution and/or transmission network grid connection process & Knowledge of relevant electrical codes and standards Client/project management in the capacity of a technical manager on project tasks Skills in steady-state / dynamic and/or transient modelling of power systems/ Hands-on knowledge of at least two major power system analysis software: DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, PSS/E, Matlab Simulink, and SKMExperience in preparing functional specification of HV equipment
