Job summary

We are looking for a professional and experienced Sonographer with a commitment to excellent patient care and high quality imaging to join our friendly and dynamic Non-Obstetric US team. This post will be based at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.

We have facilities at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital and Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Andover Community Diagnostic Centre and Alton Community Hospital. Each Department has designated ultrasounds rooms and you will work with a team of Sonographers, student Sonographers, RDAs and Radiologists. We are looking at the potential to expand our service on all our sites

Working Hours: hours or pro rata per week variable shifts

Main duties of the job

We undertake a variety of examinations for ED, inpatients, outpatients and GP patients including urology, baby hips, MSK, vascular, gynae and soft tissue. We also offer ultrasound access for ambulatory services such as Stroke and Same Day Urgent Care.

The ideal candidate will have experience in all areas of Non-Obstetric US, please note that this post does not include Obstetric Ultrasound as this is run by a separate Department. As part of the role you will be expected to participate in student Sonographer training and support the service as it develops.

The successful candidate must have a PgD in Ultrasound or equivalent, be HCPC registered and be able to travel between our sites as required.

Training & Qualifications

Essential

Diploma in Medical Ultrasound (DMU), a Post Graduate Diploma (PgD) in Diagnostic Ultrasound from an CASE accredited course in the United Kingdom or equivalent from a associated country AIU diploma

Desirable

Additional post graduate qualification MSc

Experience

Essential

Demonstrate extensive clinical knowledge of ultrasound scanning techniques and appropriate technology in multiple areas Demonstrate experience in an acute clinical setting such as the NHS or equivalent

Desirable

Previous experience in research projects/publications

Skills

Essential

Ability to plan and organise a number of complex activities as part of an MDT.

Experience of audit.
