An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Nurse to join our busy and dynamic Outpatient Department, working alongside a dedicated Outpatient team based at the Thomas Linacre Centre. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the departmental manager with the effective, efficient running and development of the Outpatient clinics. 

You will be a caring, motivated and confident Staff Nurse dedicated to assisting in the delivery and development of an excellent service. 

NHS Experience Required.

Evidence of certificates will be requested at interview and during compliance checks.

Main duties of the job

To function as a member of the Multidisciplinary team in the delivery of all aspects of patient care and accept responsibility and accountability for the performance outcomes. Development of self to meet the evolving needs of the Outpatient Service ensuring efficient and effective use of all resources and to deliver high quality patient care.

On-Call

Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Identifying what is required of oneself and others in delivering individual patient care. Developing personal competencies to safeguard practice and effectiveness in role, ensuring compliance with NMC Code of Conduct. Participation in the effective use of allocated resources/funding. Demonstrating the awareness and participation in development to adapt to the changing needs of the service. Empowering self and colleagues to creatively meet professional and organisational objectives. Responsible in ensuring the effective running of the department in the absence of the departmental sister. To maintain a high standard of evidence-based care by incorporating current trends and ideas. Carry out relevant investigations as ordered by medical personnel. Participate in an extended role in nurse-led clinics on completion of appropriate training. Liaising with other hospital and community services where necessary. Functioning as an independent and supportive team member and as a team leader providing direction/assistance to other team members. Reviewing workload and evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of the service. Identifying problems and resolving them effectively. Maintaining professional standards in all aspects of care delivery within the department. Organising own time and that of junior staff and learners. Deputise for the Sister.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

RN 1st level with NMC Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable criteria

Educated to diploma/degree level Experience of teaching and qualification

Experience

Post basic experience Demonstrate ability as professional role model Evidence of competency in delivering care in a secondary care setting

Desirable criteria

Experience of outpatient nursing

Skills

Specialist clinical skills within appropriate field Ability to challenge unacceptable behaviour in a professional context Excellent verbal and written communication skills IT skills

Proven record of change management Evidence of undertaken research/audit
